Mass shootings and the Second Amendment lie
Letter to the editor in today's NY Times:
Re “10 People Shot Dead by Gunman Inside a Colorado Grocery Store” (front page, March 23):
How many people have to die in mass shootings before there is the political will to pass reasonable gun control legislation such as a renewed assault weapons ban?
Initial reports suggest that the Boulder, Colo., gunman used an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle. Similar weapons were used in the Aurora movie theater shooting, Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Orlando nightclub shooting, Las Vegas shooting, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and Tree of Life synagogue shooting.
Experience shows that an assault weapons ban would save lives. The number of mass shootings with six or more fatalities fell 37 percent during the 10-year period beginning in 1994 when an assault weapons ban was in effect as compared with the preceding 10-year period.
After the ban expired in 2004, the number of mass shootings with six or more fatalities rose 183 percent over the ensuing 10-year period.
Thoughts and prayers won’t stop the bloodshed and tears. But a well-crafted assault weapons ban would reduce the number and lethality of mass shootings.

This situation has been created by conservative/Republican governments over the years based on the Second Amendment lie. Instead of dealing with their gun fetish in discussions with their therapists, they have inflicted it on the country.
It's contemptible and unacceptable. If Biden and Democrats can get rid of the filibuster, the country can deal with the gun madness and other serious issues that Republicans are preventing from being addressed.

Ar-15 is not an assault rifle dumb ass. And just like any normal hand gun or simple rifle it’s one bullet for every single time you pull the trigger. Learn the difference.
As I said in your previous post majority of people are being killed by regular hand guns In democrat cities which far more exceeds anything you call a “mass shooting “ by 10,000 times.
At the top of the list when it comes to gun murders are all democrat cities. Take your fucking pick any one of them around the country.
Too busy taking away money from the cops. It’s a simple equation... more police presence less crime.
I'm a dumb ass because I don't know anything about guns, except that they're primarily a public safety problem fueled by assholes like you, who take pride in being gun fetishists. In fact, the cops said it was "an AR-15-style" weapon, not an AR-15. That is, some kind of hybrid weapon that apparently can shoot faster than an ordinary handgun.
Who cares? Democrats like me want to make any kind of gun harder to get, with serious background checks before any purchase. No gun-show, private purchase, or internet loopholes.
It was an AR-15. Which is just a riffle. There is no regular single shot gun shooting faster than others. It’s your finger. Some people can unload a regular hand gun a lot faster than others. The only public safety in existence today is your stupidity.
Democrats aren’t trying to make anything harder. They want to take everything away period. Nothing is based on numbers. It’s all based on one shooting used an excuse to take away all guns.

Background checks take 20-25 days depending on state. They go through the FBI and DOJ. I once applied for a liquor license which a background check is needed. DOJ pulled out an arrest for selling fireworks that was dismissed 36 years ago. They know everything. They figured out bin laden was responsible for 9/11 in a day. That background check argument is bullshit.
I bet your yearly colonoscopy is self checked. Head so far up your ass you see everything.

Time-consuming background checks? How did the Atlanta shooter buy a gun the same day of the shooting? "One shooting"? We just had two mass shootings in less than a week.

Buying a large numbers of similar guns is considered a hallmark of trafficking, but it isn’t illegal on its own. Investigators have to demonstrate that the purchaser knowingly trafficked specific weapons, identified by serial number, without a license.
“You have people who just want to sell the weapons, and people who want to buy them, and if they can get away with it, why not?” said Davy Aguilera, a former ATF official who worked in Mexico, Texas, and Central America over the course of his career. “A citizen who is not a prohibited purchaser can purchase as many guns as he or she wants. And a dealer is going to sell them.”
”What happens to the guns after the retailers make the sale is not their concern,” Aguilera added. He explained that the ATF typically only becomes aware of a trafficking operation once guns turn up at their final destination, as in Barajas’s case, or if ATF officials identify a lot of bulk sales in dealers’ sales records during inspections. Those inspections are rare, however: according to the ATF, it only inspected about 8 percent of licensed dealers in 2017.
So dumb. Smuggling? Really? That’s called illegal. It’s already against the law to transport guns over state lines. That’s called jailed time.
Democrats are talking about a so called expansion of an already extensive existing background check. You cannot expand anymore beyond the DOJ and ATF background checks. That’s as deep of a background check as you can get with a funnel up your ass.
And you sure here and site an article about criminal activity? Such a dumb ass. How the fuck do you do a background check on a criminal with an illegal gun? 99% of gun killings are done with illegal guns and in democrat run cities. You can’t refute that fact so you site an article on “smuggling”? Yeah ok Capone.
They should have a special asshole check for guys like you.
