The simple explanation is the best
Trump and his wife were vaccinated in January. Why didn't the public learn about that until March 1?
Some speculation:
"It’s unclear exactly why Trump didn’t care to announce that he had been vaccinated in January. Maybe he understood that many of his supporters were anti-vaxxers and he didn’t want to betray them. Maybe he thought it would come across like he was giving in to liberal propaganda.
Maybe, as is the simple explanation for most of what confounds us about Trump, he’s just a huge asshole."

Trump never once said not to take the vaccine. He never said not to trust the vaccine. He never said he wouldn’t take the vaccine. Your confusing Harris Biden with Trump.
More importantly, until recently Trump never told the American people to get vaccinated. Instead, he was vaccinated in private in January with no public notice. He should have done what Vice President Pence did in December: get vaccinated on TV to encourage people to get vaccinated.
