Will injection sites make a difference?
A reader comments:
Having lived in western soma for the past 20 years, and experiencing people shooting up right outside the doorstep to our apartment building, I really wonder if safe injection sites will make ANY difference. We have asked, nicely, street people preparing to shoot up if they could just go down one block to where there was no residential land use as there are kids and a school located in our residential neighborhood. Did they move? No.
Rob's comment:
I share your concern and your skepticism. Whether city hall approves injection sites or not, people shooting up in public is completely unacceptable. The city should start arresting those who do. Make them kick in a city jail cell---under medical supervision---before they are released.

If i were a Vegas odds maker I would start the line at 1000 to 1 that the injection site will change anything. Needless to say, its a long shot...excuse the pun.
