Patronizing the working class

Fox News is the reason I can never join in the mockery of rank-and-file Republicans who believe in stuff like stolen elections and socialists coming to take over America.They don't believe this stuff because they're idiots, they believe it because they hear it over and over and over from folks on TV who wear suits and ties and act like news anchors.It's the suits and their bosses who are to blame, not anything about the cultural pathologies of the white working class.

Bullshit! As a member of that class, I find this patronizing attitude stupid and offensive, as if the "white working class" should be held to a lower standard than everyone else.
You have "idiot" tendencies and are a chump if you buy the Fox News line. Instead of this annoying condescension, Drum should urge people to admit they've been duped by that proto-fascist propaganda network.
In the meantime, we have to smash them and their contemptible political party at the polls at election time.
Drum earns my When Smart People Are Dumb category again. He got it last year when he wrote something similar.

You seem to think this is a damning indictment of Democrats. Instead in only shows your ignorance about the history of socialism in this country, which is now represented by the Democratic Socialists of America. Bernie Sanders calls himself a socialist, but, like Supervisor Dean Preston, in practice he's a left-liberal and usually supports the Democratic Party.
As a mere liberal myself, I think calling oneself a socialist in the US is politically pretentious and only a way of preventing anyone from flanking you on the left. But this brand of socialism is not like socialism historically in Europe, where socialist parties, when they achieved power, sometimes nationalized important industries.
