Latest on bicycle count report: "available in mid-May"
These things evidently take time. The annual bicycle count was last September, but since then the MTA has been pretty busy making all those "improvements" to our streets maybe they just haven't had time to get the report done.
Or maybe they're a little short-handed, since they only have 5,359 employees (Later: as of 2019 there were 7,079 MTA employees) Reiskin himself has been busy working on some Big Thoughts in op-eds.
We were told in March that the report would be released at the end of that month. Two weeks ago they were still "finalizing the data" on the count, though we suspect it's not about the "data" but about how they're going to explain disappointing numbers.
Reiskin and the MTA must be gratified at all the attention this report is getting. I used to be one of the few people in the city who even read the reports.
