Aaron Peskin and Ranked Choice Voting

Willie Brown and Aaron Peskin

Willie Brown in his column on Sunday:
San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin has turned into one of the best political prognosticators in the city. Over breakfast the other day, he said he doubts Jane Kim will run for mayor, as some have speculated. He thinks that instead, she’ll keep an eye on running for Nancy Pelosi’s congressional seat, if and when she decides to retire.

All I can say is that the city is full of people who have waited, and waited, for that to happen. And they’re still waiting.

Peskin also asked what I thought of repealing ranked-choice voting.

I’ve never been a fan of ranked choice, because it forces everyone to run in a passive pack and robs the public of a defining one-on-one debate. “It would be the best thing this city has seen in some time,” I said.

Peskin left it at that, but I took it as a trial balloon. And now I’m sending it up to see what happens.
Rob's comment:
Brown is right. It's often impossible to find one acceptable candidate, let alone three that you're supposed to rank.

When he was a supervisor first time around, Aaron Peskin voted to put this dumb voting system on the ballot. Maybe he's having second thoughts on RCV like he did on the Central Subway project.

Jane Kim, honestly she is a nit wit...it just goes to show that having a degree from Stanford is meaningless. She has done zero for District 6, except to form a "bed bugs committee" her first week in office. In the mean time I have lost count of how many people have been either killed, beaten up, robbed or had a car of apartment broken into on her watch. Yet she baits the SFPD and trolls to get votes.

And Aaron "the Evil Dwarf" Peskin wants to be our next Mayor...heaven help us all!
