Newsom vetos Idaho Stop bill
Governor Newsom vetos Assembly Bill 122:
From his veto statement:
This bill would allow a person riding a bicycle to proceed through a stop sign as if it were a yield sign until January 1, 2028...Fatalities and serious injuries have been on the rise on the state's roads since 2010. The Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System shows that, since 2015, there were 3,059 crashes involving bicycles at an intersection in which the primary collision factor was failure to stop at a stop sign. The data indicates bicyclists were determined to be at fault for 88 percent of the collisions resulting in fatalities and 63 percent of those involving injuries.
Maybe Governor Newsom remembers how Mayor Newsom was treated with constempt by the bike people: Bike people insult the mayor.
Streetsblog opposed Newsom's vetoes, which is evidence that he's right. For more evidence, see Newsom vetoes[sic] freedom to walk in California, the bastard!
Marin Cyclists were also disappointed with the governor's veto.

Yes a veto. It proves they’re actually worried about safety. It helps keep the disguised “safety” argument going so that may continue redesigning local, regional and statewide streets. We all know that being anti-car helps in controlling bicyclists bad behavior. Horse shit!
