The Republican Party: American Taliban

Moulitsas got it right back in 2009:

"We all agree with the Taliban."---Rush Limbaugh, October 9, 2009

America’s primary international enemy—Islamic radicalism—insists on government by theocracy, curtails civil liberties, embraces torture, represses women, wants to eradicate homosexuals from society, and insists on the use of force over diplomacy. Remind you of a certain American political party?

In American Taliban, Markos Moulitsas pulls no punches as he compares how the Republican Party and Islamic radicals maintain similar worldviews and tactics.

Moutlitsas also challenges the media, fellow progressives, and our elected officials to call the radical right on their jihadist tactics more forcefully for the good of our nation and safety of all citizens.

When it hasn’t been taken out of context:

“ Our president(Barack Obama) is a worldwide joke. Folks, do you realize something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about and that is he doesn't deserve the award. Now that's hilarious, that I'm on the same side of something that the Taliban, and that we all are on the same side as the Taliban."”

Okay, thanks. You need to provide a link to that quote so we can judge its credibility.

That the Republican has an affinity for the Taliban movement is plausible when you consider that both parties are anti-woman, both are homophobic, and both are essentially "theocratic," which is true for Republicans on abortion: the notion that a human being is born as soon as there's a heartbeat is theology, not biology.

Not sure about a human being born as soon as there is a heartbeat. What I do know is a heartbeat means life therefore alive. That’s science.

Even your liberal media agrees with the context of the quote.

I’ll be more than happy to link the full transcript of that Limbaugh episode as well if you like. But since you enjoy the liberal bullshit media I figure the link provided will suffice.

So now female republicans are anti women and gay republicans are homophobic and love the taliban? Your a democrat but job seriously. Take any hits of acid by chance? Idiot.

Okay, thanks. That shows that the quotation I cited was taken out of context.

But then the link provides this:

"The remark is almost comical in how deeply cynical and partisan it is. And it reflects the extent to which mockery and hatred of the president has come to dominate much of conservative media."

Not clear that Limbaugh is showing "hatred" for Obama here. Seems more like contempt, which actually is more typical of how the right treated Obama. To listen to Republicans, it's inexplicable that Obama was elected to two terms. How did such a contemptible guy do that?

That he is also black, you understand, has nothing to do with the conservative disdain.

This is only the writers opinion. I think your a prick you think I’m an asshole. Which really makes no difference. Opinions don’t really have anything to do with what rush said in context.

“ Obama was elected to two terms. How did such a contemptible guy do that?”

Good question isn’t the system racist supposedly?
Trump did receive more votes than Obama during 2018 Impossible for Trump to win without some of those whom voted for Obama switched over. Speaker of the house boner was exactly that just a boner. And Romney and McCain Fucking sucked Who wouldn’t have won is the question.

More contempt coming from democrats since 2018 with zero accomplishments for the country to date.

Yes, my bad on the Limbaugh quotation. I should have done some checking. But still comparing the Republican Party to the Taliban is useful, since both parties have an extremist religious base---right-wing Christians and right-wing Jews for the Republicans and right-wing Muslims for the Taliban.

Both parties are terrible with women, terrible with gays, and terrible on climate change. On second thought, do the Taliban even have a position on that issue? I bet they think it's all in Allah's hands, like some Christians say about their equally implausible god. Odd that the Christian god seems to be punishing the Republican base with the pandemic, whereas we smarty-pants unbelievers on the two coasts are doing a lot better.

Obama won because he somehow was able to transcend the race issue. He was smart and personable and wasn't angry, probably because he grew up in Hawaii, not in the South or anywhere in the continental US, for that matter.

Trump wasn't running against Obama. He never could have beat Obama. And even Hillary got almost 3 million more votes than him!

Romney and McCain were the best candidates the Republican Party had at the time, and they weren't nearly good enough.

So they were ok with a black man being president but racist against white Hilary. Apparently she was too white.

Even Hillary got almost 3 million more votes than Trump. But your boy Trump benefited from the racist Republican vote in the electoral college, especially in the South.
