Paying for the Bezos space trip

All hat, no cattle

....By all reports, Bezos has been obsessed with space for 30 years, and spent a small fortune — a pittance to him, it is to be noted — almost but not quite getting there.

After his billionaire rival, Richard Branson, pulled a similar stunt 10 days ago, you’d have thought from the media coverage that Branson had landed on the moon and discovered cold fusion in a crater.

The coverage of the Bezos fling was about as exciting as this cat meme, and all he got for his troubles in the end were enough penis jokes to last 10 lifetimes....

Yet as ridiculous as Bezos’s space coffee break was, I still get occasional pushback when I refer to people like him and Branson, who pay almost nothing in taxes annually, as “tax cheats.”

They aren’t cheating, I am told, but are playing by the laws as they find them. Change the laws if you don’t like them!

Well, that right there is the thing. Most of us aren’t billionaires who can afford to adopt the kind of powerful politicians who can rewrite the tax codes in our favor.

What do you call a system where rich people pay Congress members to do just that? I call it cheating, and sleep like a baby at night.

If I slip a few Benjamins to the home plate umpire so he will expand the strike zone for my pitcher during the game, I am cheating, and that is this....

Really?? Who cares? How does it effect your life? Jealous? No one is stopping you from getting a job, saving money, buying a bicycle. Can’t fly out to Paris? It’s called bad money management and or jobless. Job doesn’t pay much? Quit and find another one. What a bunch of fucking cry babies.

Bezo’s was broke his mom had him at 16. His real father was a bumb. His mom was making $1.25 and hour before she married a Cuban guy in Miami that couldn’t speak English.
Bill Gates is another one created something stupid at home using his brains.
Branson the same selling magazines at 16.
Mark Cuban sold garbage bags door to door as a kid.
I have two little kids in my neighborhood one 5 and the other 7 they’re brothers. Every weekend the set up a lemonade stand make all of you cry babies look stupid.

Blaming companies and billionaires for your shitty lives. Why because of taxes? Say they paid more taxes how is that making your miserable life any better? Besides the extra tax money would be going to some dumb train or politicians pockets not to you. Go ahead and tax them 70% and then maybe they’ll use that tax money buying all of you diapers.

Way off the point, Anon, which is that the rich can hire tax experts, lawyers, and lobbyists to avoid paying taxes.

Yes, it's an inspiring story, rags to riches to where he can screw the rest of us by not paying his fair share of taxes, unlike most working people who have it taken out of their paychecks. That makes them "crybabies" when they insist that the rich also pay taxes?

Somehow I found your vision of saving money to buy a bicycle uninspiring. Even I have long been able to afford a bike. It's just that my instinct for self-preservation prevented me from considering that risky transportation< "mode."

I cant stand Bezos or amazon. But how exactly are their taxes screwing anybody. Because companies get deductions? Ok and? If you own a house you get deductions. Unless you'r wanting more free shit thus needing more tax money to pay for it. Thats a different argument. Those that get taxes taken out of their paychecks get a lot of it back. Esp those that claim zero they get their state and federal taxes back. Its called a W2 tax return. Hence "tax return" donkey brains. They may get their tax deductions and their tax specialist but they still pay and pay a lot.

It's all based off percentages. Want a percentage someone like you may call fair well then have a fixed percentage across the board. Instead of being pissed off at amazon while you use their service ordering products off their website because you'r too lazy to go to best buy.

The paycheck folks are not getting screwed by big companies and billionaires. Look at California. They have an additional tax on a paycheck stub labeled as "other state tax" what that is no one knows. San Francisco you have sales tax that has gone up, a soda tax, a paper bag charge, a health tax. Then on your Pg&e bill or any utility bill you have a san Francisco USE tax. Which is being taxed for using and paying for electricity, telephone etc in the city of San Francisco. This is where the paycheck man is getting raped. Calculate all taxes you pay including all of the sales tax you pay on everything you purchase in this state. At the end you just paid out 40-60% in total tax. Gas taxes in california That's not Amazon's fault. Has nothing to do with it. Then you have developers in SF getting tax breaks but the city needs to make up those tax breaks from somewhere. So what do they do? They'll place an affordable housing measure on the ballot. Your dumb ass votes for it and we make up the difference.

How about the minimum wage. The raised it to 16.20 this year in july. Thats suppose to help people live in SF and pay rent? Ok how? A one bedroom in SF is about 2700 a month. Add a $60 electricity bill now your at 2760. Groceries, cell phone, internet, a car or bus fare. Do the math. $16.20 an hour working full time 40 hours a week before taxes comes to $2592 a month. That doesn't even cover the rent. All that does is raise your candy bar or gallon of milk price. So what do it? Raise the min wage collect more payroll taxes it's that simple and the only reason behind it. A billionaire has their money living their lives. Its the city thats fucking you. Again shut your mouth, get a job , and save your money. But all most people hear esp those still in college from people like you is life sucks, your too stupid to make it and it's all Amazon's fault.

Well stop using their service cancel your Amazon prime, stop going to whole foods, stop reading the Washington post and shut the fuck up. Jackasses living under rent control are always the first ones to cry about this shit. How about paying your fair share of rent? It's the same argument.

The more you write, the dumber you seem. You apparently didn't read the ProPublica story that was linked that, among other things, included this:

"The consequences of allowing the most prosperous to game the tax system have been profound. Federal budgets, apart from military spending, have been constrained for decades. Roads and bridges have crumbled, social services have withered and the solvency of Social Security and Medicare is perpetually in question."

Of course we already know that you Republicans don't care if the American people have medical care, since your party has been trying to prevent them from getting it in Republican-controlled states. Contemptible!

The true definition of dumb is how you ignore the facts and always revert to your personal default which is to say oh republicans are bad people.

You have zero answers, zero arguments and zero facts. Most likely you purposely ignore them as you have issues with the truth.

You respond about some propublica story about roads and bridges that’s it? Look your state and city. They paint red bus lanes over potholes. Taking all bridge tolls That were raised and vehicle taxes That were raised for bike lanes, bulb outs and stupid trains. What was once a free car poll lane is now a pay to use HOV lanes.

Taking more money under the disguise of helping people only to double charge them. That’s exactly like saying today a gallon of milk costs $4.50 in the store. Give me $200,000 so that I can open a supermarket to help feel the needy and then I’ll charge you $6.50 for the milk.

Save your bullshit and cancel your amazon prime account.
