Carlson's claim is true? Note that he doesn't identify his source, and he says it's supposedly "a story we are working on."
Carlson is a right-wing ideologue who performs on a right-wing TV network. The rest of us have a right to be skeptical.
Occasionally you see this claim made by leftists too, but it seems just as likely that political activists, right and left, sometimes exaggerate their significance, that is, they are so important, such a threat to the state, that the government is spying on them.
Speaking of reality checks, here's question for you: Was the 2020 election stolen from Donald Trump?
Democrats/the left like to portray the phrase “right wing” as awful. is just a label democrats throw out there playing word games to make seem as though it’s good against evil. A plane has two wings left and right. If “right wing is some sort of awful well then the left wing is just as awful.
Here’s another “note” no one in the media identifies their inside source. Unlike CNN and MSNBC or WAPO or the NYT he never says “anonymous” which those media outlets are famous for especially when Trump was in office. He stated “our source” and then also stated that they filed freedom of information act.
The entire world is spying. Your Safeway phone number spies on your purchases. They can easily just have their products priced accordingly. But instead they ask for your phone number to get the price. Big tech companies spy on you. Ever visit a website for a piece of furniture or look up your medical records or let’s say even target, then you decide ok let me check out cnn for the news... what do you see right in the middle of it? An AD for target, furniture and or medical. That’s done through asan Francisco company called AdRoll through cookies. Which is another form of spying.
He government has been spying on citizens for years. We all know it. Tucker didn’t sound like a crackpot in the clip I shared. It’s not a conspiracy. What Tucker said was very reasonable.
Want to talk about conspiracies then look back at the past two presidential elections. First Obama at the podium says out loud elections can’t be hacked no cheating. Hilary loses all of a sudden Democrats are yelling computers were hacked Trump cheated and the Russians helped Trump. 2020 elections Biden wins and it’s backed to elections can’t be hacked no cheating happened.
That you live in the right-wing fever swamp is clearly evident in this comment. You might as well admit that you think the 2020 election was stolen from Trump.
The media sources you mention surely use anonymous sources, and there's no reason that they shouldn't. People with important information often are those who cannot afford to go public for various reasons, including losing their jobs.
A responsible reporter should of course be careful about sources, whether anonymous or not.
You surely want more than one anonymous source to verify a significant fact or situation. You defend Carlson's refusal to reveal his source. The problem is that Carlson is such an aggressive political ideologue, he doesn't deserve to be automatically credible when he supposedly relies on an anonymous source.
That Trump was more often victimized by stories based on anonymous sources than other politicians is ludicrous. Not to mention the fact that he often discredited himself on national TV by, like, for example, clearly committing obstruction of justice during the events around the Mueller report. Mueller simply didn't have the guts to indict a sitting president, though that's what the facts and the law required.

I can't let this bullshit pass. As a well-informed Democrat, I don't know of a single important---or even unimportant---Democrat who claims that the results of either the 2016 election or the 2020 election were fraudulent or even questionable. Trump's victory was all about the time bomb the Founding Fathers put in the Constitution, the electoral college, which allows minority rule, since Hillary beat Trump by almost 3 million votes.
