Virus goes high, Trump goes low

“Cities are police departments with some underfunded services on the side.”

Strong Towns

I'm posting this because I liked the quotation above, not because I like the organization's agenda, particularly its dedication to the bicycle fantasy:

Bike infrastructure is one of the most high return on investments a city can make. Yet, in cities across the country, we see transportation leaders continue to opt for more roads and wider lanes instead.

"More roads" in cities? By definition cities are essentially built-out and they can't build more streets or make streets wider. Like to see some examples of cities that are actually doing that.

This muddled thought is really about anti-carism, not streets themselves. Making it harder and more expensive to drive those wicked motor vehicles is the assumption. This is done by taking away traffic lanes and street parking to make bike lanes. Making traffic congestion worse makes cities stronger?

But good tail-wagging-the-dog quote about cities and police departments!
