Bannon may have some influence but I don't think it is as much as some may perceive.

Here's is one of many interviews available online where he speaks of trade. Pretty much the same stuff he talks about today. This is from the 80s. There are many interviews like this where trump preaches the same stuff over and over.

Bannon is a pseudo-intellectual and Big Thinker who is some kind of Catholic fundamentalist. Like Hitchens said, religion poisons everything, especially our political culture (e.g., abortion and the attempt to defund Planned Parenthood, not to mention homophobia). Bannon is the kind of guy who can impress an ignoramus like Trump, the same way a semi-literate like Paul Ryan is impressed by Ayn Rand.

I'm sure that's a pretty good description of Bannon. But I still believe no one controls trump. He's been pretty consistent on his nationalism style, trade. That whole america first mentality. Come on would he really be acting the way he's acting including his tweets as president? His administration goes one way he goes the other. He's not listening to anybody.

Speaking of planned parenthood I hope they defund it. At least for the city of San Francisco specifically. We have healthy San Francisco, non-profits on pregnancy, mental issues, free hiv testing and so on. Free clinics all over the city and they even have these big campers that park in different neighborhoods for free blood tests and physicals. That's just our sf tax dollars. We also have state dollars going to healthy families CCHI. Its probably a good thing for the rest of the country. But Technically sf citizens are paying triple the price for an abortion.

It's not a matter of "controlling" Trump. As one of his top advisers, Bannon is always in the room when important decisions are made. He has Trump's ear.

Trump's "American first mentality" means that somehow the richest, most powerful country in history has recently morphed into an economic victim, treated as an international trading chump for the rest of the world! Instead, the US is now seen as an international crybaby, not the reliable ally and world hegemon of only a few years ago.

Defund Planned Parenthood in SF? As an "Ed," I assume you aren't a woman and are simply "mansplaining" the issue for us. Dude, why do you think you know more about the medical needs of the city's women than women themselves and people in the medical profession?

I don't know more about the medical needs of women and never said that I did. All I'm saying is unlike most of the country sf has more than enough clinics and non profits giving pretty much offering the same services as planned parenthood which our tax dollars pay for. Want to keep planned parenthood that's fine. Then just get rid of the city/non profit that offer the same services. Which is pretty much education std testing abortions birth control cancer screening. Prior to planned parenthood the state and city already offered those same exact services for free. So in a sense we are paying triple the tax for the same services.

Take std testing as an example of one specific service. We pay state tax for state offered std testing. Then we pay city tax for free std testing and federal tax (planned parenthood) for free std testing. Std testing is std testing. I don't care who offers it. But choose one so that we're paying a single tax and not triple taxed.

No, you don't claim to know about women's medical needs but "All I'm saying is unlike most of the country sf has more than enough clinics and non profits giving pretty much offering the same services as planned parenthood which our tax dollars pay for."

You should immediately notify the mayor and the board of supervisors with your discovery, so they can make the appropriate budget cuts. Surprising that no one else noticed this---and it took a guy to find out that health services for women are grossly duplicated!

"Surprising that no one else noticed this"

It's apparent you haven't either. Rather than research what I speak up you revert to sarcasm. Grow up.

You're the one making the claim. Where's your research/evidence to support it?

"evidence to support it". It's not like you live in San Francisco as you have no idea what health services the city offers and it's just some idiot(me) just making some random "claim". While asking for "my research/evidence to support it". That's pretty cute. What's next I'm going to claim that there is a needle exchange in the haight for herion addicts?
Not a problem I'll play your game.

Services provided by planned parenthood
Abortion
Abortion refferal
Birth control
The morning after pill
General health care
HIV services
LGBT services
Men's health services
Patient education
Pregnancy testing
STD testing.
Women's services which include vaginal disease, cervical cancer screening and other exams.

per their website https://www.plannedparenthood.org/get-care/our-services

In San Francisco healthy San Francisco, SFCC, woman's health clinic, sf LGBT center not to mention one in the great "district 5" heath right 360 which pretty much offers the same services as planned parenthood. Another 100 that I'm not going to list them. You have no problem finding streetsblog online so it would be fair to assume you can find the other 100 clinics.

The point is we pay taxes in sf for the same services as planned parenthood which is paid for by state and federal tax. No one is saying to get rid of these types of services. What I'm saying is choose one organization or the other so that citizens don't pay triple. With regards to SF specifically the city has offered these types of services years before planned parenthood went into effect. We are not talking about the rest of the United States as other states and cities are different. Just San Francisco as the city is in its own world and other states and cities around the country do not offer nearly as much free services as San Francisco.

Want to keep planned parenthood in SF? That's fine replace the other free clinics with the same exact services with planned parenthood locations. Make it universal paying one tax having 700 locations. A free abortion is a free abortion right?

Here's some first grade math that may help with understanding .. let's say you paid $90 in taxes which is allocated to these free services and to keep it simple let's use abortion. $30 of your tax is going to federally sponsored abortion. $30 going to state sponsored abortion and $30 going to city sponsored abortion. How about choose one and pay $30 instead of $90 for all three which essentially the same and use the remaining $60 for other things like pot holes or you can keep your $60.

It's speaking of how our tax dollars are spent not the discontinuation of any services. If you still don't get it then I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you.

I think you may need Smoke a joint or two and relax. You don't always have to be on the attack. There is nothing wrong with being a little reasonable and asking for a explanation first. Too much anger is not good. According to Jack Nicholson "goosefraba" helps.
Have a good day

Okay, that's better, since the burden of proof was on you, not me, to back up your duplication claim. Different clinics serve different parts of the city and different clients.

Still it's not clear that public health clinics serving women---or anyone else---are a big ticket item for taxpayers compared to the SFMTA, which has a billion dollar budget and a bloated payroll.
