As pedestrians spend more time on the phone, Darwin swoops in and removes them from the gene pool. Problem solved and traffic flows more freely.
Yes, the process Darwin described is relentless and takes no notice of Vision Zero. But there are a lot of pedestrians injured in city traffic only because people walk more in San Francisco than in other big cities.
Dig through this you'd enjoy it. Info on pretty much all the projects in the city. Approved years ago and has been implemented over time and still more to come. For example mission street bus lanes was adopted in 2007.
