City Hall tries to mitigate the ongoing Wiggle fiasco
City Hall's fantasy Wiggle. One of the women wears a hijab! |
Whenever Haighteration---the "eat, drink, shop" blog---posts about the Wiggle it gets a lot of interesting comments, unlike its posts on food and restaurants. (Haighteration dumped my blog from its blogroll, probably because of complaints from some PC feebs. Was it my opposition to Islamic terrorism---a k a "Islamophobia" in FeebThink---or to the great bicycle revolution? Andrew Dudley won't say.)
Anyhow, check out its latest thread on the Wiggle, where the city is camoflaging that unpopular, hazardous bike speedway through the lower Haight with some "green" projects and cosmetic landscaping.

She's wearing a hijab, yes, but it could be worse - she could be wearing skinny jeans and riding a bike.
No, it can't get any worse than this. The picture's goofy multicultural touch pales in significance to its absence of bicycles---which is the problem with the Wiggle---though one cyclist can be seen dimly off to the side.
Sorry, I don't see your point. There's too many bikes or not enough in the picture? Anyway it's hard to see why the cycle track is hazardous since no one rides bikes in San Francisco. It's all for show, just a Potemkin-like display of bike lanes that no one actually uses.
Yep, it's hard to say which is worse, bicyclists or Muslims. On the one hand, you've got a group of people who have so much hate in their hearts for our way of life that they'd rather die to promote their ideology than live in peace with their fellow human beings. On the other hand, you've got Muslims.
Actually, it seems to be a pedestrian walking toward that car. But no moving vehicles at all in the picture!
She'd better get the heck out of the way. Streets are for cars, not careless pedestrians that deserve what's coming to them.
How many people have died on the Wiggle? Can you show some statistics to support your claims that it's a hazardous bike speedway? Also, please explain how it's unpopular.
Anonymous, streets are not just for cars. They're for trucks and buses too. Reveal yourself so we can know what kind of person would be so short-sighted.
Rob - my name is Delia and I am typing this in for my Grandmother.
Mr. Anderson - the city is discrimanate.
They are doing a meeting about Polk Street but it is not a real meeting, you have to have a computer because it is on something called the facebook. This is disciminatory against old and disabled people who are too feeble to use a computer or cannot see. This is only for rich and white people who ride a bicycle and use computer.
They should not do this.
Anonymous, I stand corrected, thank you. Streets are for cars, trucks, and the occasional bus, in that order. What they are NOT for is entitled smug hipsters walking or biking around in their skinny jeans.
You're calling the Wiggle "hazardous" even there have been no recent crashes. And yet you're saying Masonic is not hazardous for the same reason? Do I have that right?
Justin -
Another fact free comment! The Wiggle is a war zone!
Justin, According to the city's own illustrations, there's Islamofascists with hijabs walking around. I'd call that pretty hazardous, wouldn't you?
