Friends of Ross
Dear Friends of Ross,
Wow, what a sight it was to see over 200 people attend the May 29 Ethics Commission hearing in support of Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi and his family. The intensity of support was so palpable that even the SF Chronicle ran a front page story the next day (even with decent pictures). Thank you to all those who joined us and tried to endure the nearly six hours of waiting until public comment was allowed.
People from all walks of life are seeing this for what it is---Mayor Ed Lee's personal star chamber prosecution of our elected Sheriff. They couldn't defeat Ross at the polls last November but now they're trying to undermine the will of the voters with this well-funded campaign to violate the democratic rights of all San Franciscans. Their tactics are unprecedented, and they must be stopped from trying to consolidate power as if the rules don't apply to them.
Our effort is pure grassroots. We're all volunteers with no budget. But we're NOT going to sit back quietly and watch them apply one back-breaking strategy after another: Suspending Ross without pay (without any due process rights), incapacitating him from providing for his family, and then not allowing him to see his family after repeated requests by his wife, Eliana Lopez; and despite the objections of Eliana, the shameless leak of the video by the Mayor and City Attorney to compound negative media attention.
Going forward, we want to make sure you are aware of the next steps in the battle to reinstate Sheriff Mirkarimi---we need you!
June 19, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. in Room 263, City Hall: Join us again at the next Ethics Commission hearing. As before, please try to arrive early to make sure you get a seat, but if you do not get in you are welcome to watch from the overflow rooms. We will be securing a videographer who will be stationed in the overflow room to document your thoughts and feelings about the proceedings. Please remember that we are there to support Ross and we need to show a certain level of decorum as others will judge our Sheriff by our actions.
Ask your friends to sign our Petition to Reinstate Ross!
Contact the Board of Supervisors and let them know that you will not stand for anything less than the reinstatement of Sheriff Mirkarimi.

Do you have an opinion regarding the neighbor who the former supervisor's wife went to for help? Does her testimony about the history of verbal and physical abuse by the former supervisor told to her by his wife have no meaning to you? This is the most damning of all in this story and has nothing to do with politics.
Why did his wife worry about a possible custody fight to begin with?
I did not read the 20 plus page testimony by his neighbor but some of it was quoted on a radio show. You talk of the mayor's politics and send out a call for mob politics to decide what is best for SF. Maybe you should try for a race card to help the poor guy.
