Tom Radulovich: For the Central Subway before he was against it

BART director Tom Radulovich is the only elected offical in San Francisco to voice any doubts about the Central Subway project. But he was for it before he was against it. He endorsed Proposition K, the sales tax for transportation projects city voters passed in 2003, which advertised the Central Subway as one of its projects.

Check out the Voters Handbook for November, 2003 (pages 159-176), where you will find his endorsement. Note that the Ballot Simplification Committee puts "Maintenance of local streets" at the top of the list of what the money was to be used for.

Hard to justify City Hall's $238 million bond to repair city streets on the November ballot when the city is squandering so much Prop. K money on the Central Subway project---money that should be spent to keep our streets in good order.

The Grand Jury report (Central Subway: Too much money for too little benefit) on the Central Subway project released yesterday.
