Question Time: A correction
I got it wrong on the votes on Question Time in an earlier post: the original vote in November, 2006 (Proposition I), to get Mayor Newsom to appear regularly before the Board of Supervisors, passed 56% to 44%.
Since Mayor Newsom ignored that vote, refusing to take part in what he rightly called "political theater" engineered by Chris Daly, there was another measure on the ballot in November, 2007 (Proposition E), that would have made his appearance mandatory, which city voters narrowly defeated, 51% to 49%, much to the disappointment of city progressives.
